The boating lake is above the West Promenade and is no more than ten minutes amble from The Prairie.
It is popular in summer with kids of all ages and all manner of model boats can be seen navigating the shallow clean waters of the lake, from children’s sailing boats to professional radio controlled steam boats.
There is a Victorian shelter next to the boating lake; handy to shelter from the elements, or for grandparents to take the weight off their feet whilst the kids play.
A pristine public garden is located next to the lake area. This is a perfect spot for picnics during the summer months, especially as an ice-cream van is usually resident nearby.
There are public toilets next to the gardens and there are picnic benches and a well maintained children’s play area opposite The Burlington Hotel, which is at the opposite end of The Esplanade.
