Summary

This is a short walk from Weybourne to Sheringham that is suitable for everyone.

It makes use of the Norfolk Coastal Path, running atop the cliffs and parallel to the sea, offering exceptional views the coast both inland and seaward.

Details

The route starts at the Beach Road car park in Weybourne. This is not a free car park and charges a maximum of £5. We would therefore recommend catching the Coasthopper or a steam train from the North Norfolk Railway to Weybourne and walking back.

From the car park turn right, keeping the sea to your left. The Coastal Path meanders along the clifftops for most of the journey, offering unprecedented views. You will skirt Sheringham Golf Course as you head up towards and past Skelding Hill, where you will encounter the old Watch Tower. This is an ideal spot for a rest, with plenty of seating provided and a perfect view of Weybourne and the sea.

From Skelding Hill you will drop down to the Esplanade in Sheringham. The Coastal Path brings you out at the model boating lake next to a Victorian Shelter. Walk past the gardens and drop down the ramp towards the sea near the toilets. There is usually an ice-cream van here in the summer.

Walk along the promenade with the sea to your left, taking in the colourful beach huts and traditional fishing boats. As you head towards The Mo you will pass a slipway with beached fishing boats. The Henry Ramey Upcher Museum is here; well worth a visit as you pass by.

Finally, at The Mo, you will round the corner on the East Promenade onto Beach Road. There are a couple of great cafes we can recommend in this area, The Funky Mackerel and The Submarine Cafe.

Walk up the short stretch of Beach Road to Beeston Road and The Prairie is just on the left, past the junction with Cliff Road.
