Summary

This is a walk from West Runton to Cromer along the Norfolk Coastal Path, passing East Runton. The second half of this walk from East Runton is on pavement along the A149 Cromer Road.

Details

The route starts at the Seaview Beach Cafe in West Runton. Pick up the sign for the Norfolk Coast Path and Roman Camp near the Cafe, and head eastwards, with the sea to your left.

After about half a mile, you will reach a field and the path will appear to end at a hedge. Cut across the field diagonally (there is a path marked) and it will bring you out on the driveway for the Woodhill Park Campsite.

At this point, follow the signs for the Coastal Path around the reception building (near the crossing), and follow the path that runs parallel to the hedgerow. The path leads to a gate onto the A149 Cromer Road footpath.

At this point, follow the road through East Runton, past Hazelbury Caravan Park, then Wyndham Holiday Park. You then have the choice to continue on the pavement, or cut across the overspill car park.

At the end of the carpark, you can drop down onto the promenade towards the pier.

There are regular buses back to Sheringham – the bus stop is opposite the bus station on Cadogan Road, and you can catch the Coasthopper or X40 service back to Sheringham Station.
