The Prairie Cottage Sheringham » Norfolk » Walks »
Start: Cley Windmill, NR25 7RP (Approximate) Distance: 5 miles (6 to Weybourne Station) Level: Medium Related Walks: « Blakeney to Cley » Weybourne to Sheringham
Summary
This is a longer walk from Cley next the Sea to Weybourne that is suitable for more experienced walkers.
It makes use of the Norfolk Coastal Path, running parallel to the sea and offering exceptional coastal views.
Details
Free parking is available off Church Lane (down Town Yard, off the Holt Road).
After parking your car, head towards the High Street and pick up the Coastal Path near Crabpot Books as you approach the end of the village.
The first mile or so of the Coastal Path is alongside marshland and heads towards the coast. The coastal walk is shingle. It’s not really suitable for pushchairs and we would recommend wearing a sturdy pair of walking boots and checking the tide timetables before setting off.
If you have journeyed to Cley via the Coasthopper then you have the opportunity to return to Sheringham via the North Norfolk Railway at Weybourne. The walk to the station adds about another mile of walking, but is well worth it.
Otherwise, head down Beach Road towards Weybourne and the A149, and catch a Coasthopper back to Cley.
